Martin House Bereavement Services

What does it do?
Martin House Children’s Hospice provides specialist and holistic palliative and end-of-life care to children and young people with life-shortening illnesses, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire, including the Bradford District. We offer bereavement support to all families following the death of their child with a life-limiting condition, whether they have accessed Martin House previously or not. The aim is to provide an opportunity to talk through feelings and find ways of coping within a supportive and confidential, professional relationship. The service is free of charge and support is tailored to the family's needs and can take place at the hospice or in the family's own home. As part of the bereavement service, we offer group support for bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents and a memorial day.

Who is it for?
Parents of a baby or a child with a life limiting condition who has recently passed away. Support for other members of the family can also be arranged.

We can accept referrals, including self-referrals, which relate to a child with any life-limiting condition, ranging from babies diagnosed Antenatally to young adults up to the age of 25. Referrals can usually be made up to 2 years after a baby or child’s death, and each one will be considered on an individual basis.
