Martin House Asian Mums group

What does it do?
Martin House Children’s Hospice provides specialist and holistic palliative care to children and young people with life-shortening illnesses, and their families, across West, North and East Yorkshire, including the Bradford District. Whilst we care for children from all nationalities and backgrounds, a large number of the children we care for in the Bradford District are from Asian backgrounds. We run a group once a year specifically for Asian mothers who have children with a life-shortening illness. The day is informal, and runs at the Carlisle Business Centre from 10.30 until 2.30pm. The mums who attend these days have enjoyed the support and friendship of the group. We spend the morning discussing issues of special relevance and the afternoon is spent having fun or perhaps learning a new activity or craft. A lovely lunch is provided.

Who is it for?
Mothers of children with life-shortening illnesses from an Asian background who live anywhere in West, North or East Yorkshire. This group is only for families who are receiving support from Martin House already, but if you are not and would like to benefit from the wide variety of support available at Martin House, you can self-refer – see below.

Anyone can refer a child from before birth to age 19. Call 01937 845045 or through our website: www.martinhouse.org.uk (at the top there is a link Refer a Child)
