B.E.S.T Project-Behavioral Evaluation Support Team

What does it do?
The B.E.S.T Project provides a managed environment to enable children and young people to be assessed. Through a process of monitoring, planned interventions and evaluation the children’s behaviours are improved. The staff team devise behaviour management plans that are implemented which promote positive behaviours. These programmes are then transferred to other settings where appropriate i.e home, school and the child’s community. The service offered at BEST Project may include short periods of care in the unit and over night stays depending on the targeted behaviours and specific areas of work. Arrangements are then made to engage with parents/carers and service providers to share the work being implemented and support them to consistently work with the young person this may be unit based or outreach work.    Any work undertaken will take into account social activities attended by the young person, i.e sport and leisure including youth clubs. Support and consideration will be given to including those activities in the service offered.

Who is it for?
The Behavioural Evaluation Support Team (B.E.S.T.) Project is a tier 3 and 4 service that aims to enable children and young people, aged 5-18 years, (both male & female) who have a learning disability to remain at home with their families (4 beds).

How do I access it?
The needs of all children and young people using the services for BEST Project will be fully assessed by Care Management Team by an allocated Social Worker. A referral panel is in place and takes place twice monthly. All referrals for the BEST Project are considered via this process.
