LS29 Special Needs Support Group

LS29 provides activities, support and trips for families who have a child with additional needs living in the LS29 area (or within an 8 mile radius).  We also run LS29 Time, a holiday club for children with additional needs, and we run a fortnightly term time playgroup for families with children under 5 with additional needs.

Founded in 2006 by a group of parents who were unhappy with the lack of support in the area, LS29 Group is for families of children with additional needs

We now have over 100+ members, and organise a wide range of trips and activities throughout the year for families who have children with additional needs.  Our aim is to provide opportunities for the whole family to take part in activities they may not otherwise have the opportunity to take part in, try new challenges, meet friends and develop a support network and of course, have fun.

Parents or Carers are required to accompany and be responsible for their children at all events. Siblings are welcome to take part.  We also offer a 'youth zone club' which is for secondary aged children, to meet and go to the cinema, out for a meal or bowling.

Some of our recent events include…

  • Inflatable Swim Sessions
  • Overnight trip to Blackpool
  • Climbing wall
  • Tennis sessions
  • Social events for parents
  • Trips to Theme Park

LS29 Time Holiday Club

LS29 Time provides fun times for young people with additional needs and respite time for families from all parts of the Bradford area. Our club is based in Ilkley and all our activities and trips run from there.

We run sessions for primary and secondary-age young people, with staff to support them, at Christmas, Easter and in the summer holidays. You don't have to be an LS29 member to attend, although LS29 members get priority.

  • Wide range of trips and activities

  • Accessible venues are used.

  • Choice of staffed place or attending with a regular PA

  • Discounts for families with more than one young person attending, free places for families on low incomes.

  • Quiet, low stimulus sessions and sessions with healthcare staff on site for young people with medical needs

  • Supported volunteer places for 18-25 year olds with additional needs who have attended the club previously

Under 5s meet-ups

LS29 Time also runs a fortnightly term time meet up in Ben Rhydding for families with children aged 0-5 with additional needs. The group offers sensory and accessible play, free refreshments, information about local support options and an opportunity for parents and carers to meet others in a similar boat.
