Carers' Resource

Carers’ Resource is an independent charity that provides support for carers across the Bradford, Harrogate and Skipton districts. A carer is anyone who, without payment, provides help and support to a friend, neighbour or relative who could not manage otherwise because of frailty, illness or disability. They may even be juggling paid work with caring responsibilities at home.

The charity can help any carer, whether they have just started to care for another person or whether they have been doing it for years, whether the cared-for person lives with them or not, whether they care for just a few hours a week or round-the-clock, and whether they have £1 or £1m in their bank account.

Carers’ Resource deals with many and varied situations and can help by:

  • Talking through your concerns
  • Telling you about information and support – financial, practical or emotional – and how to access it
  • Hospital admission and discharge processes
  • Advice on benefits entitlement (where we are able to do so)
  • How to plan for the future
  • How to develop new hobbies and interests
  • How to find leisure, learning and employment opportunities
  • Where you can go to form links with other carers through groups and activities (eg crafts, lunch clubs, relaxation classes, confidence building, IT sessions, trips)
  • Wellbeing grants of up to £150 (see https://www.carersresource.org/carers-wellbeing-grant/)
  • Quarterly newsletter (see https://www.carersresource.org/choices-newsletter/)

Call 01274 449660 (office hours, although open until 7pm on Tuesdays), or fill in this form to get a call-back https://www.carersresource.org/contact/carer-self-referral/

The Bradford SEND Local Offer is a free and impartial service provided by Bradford Council. The information contained within the website is available for the purposes of identifying services and provision that are available to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities. This information does not represent a recommendation or an endorsement of a Service or Provider and neither does the Bradford Council or its partners make any representations or warranties as to the accuracy of the information.

Anyone seeking to use or access a service or provision is responsible for undertaking their own checks to determine the suitability and fitness for purpose of that service and provision. Some providers will be registered and inspected by external agencies, such as Ofsted or the Care Quality Commission. Anyone working with children and young people will be required to have appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service Check (the replacement for the Criminal Record Check), safeguarding policies and insurance in place, which they should make available to you on request.
