PARENTS Online

Peer Assistance, Reciprocal Experience & Navigation Through Support

Parenting can be tough. At PARENTS Online we provide text-based emotional support to parents and carers through our chat platform below. Our committed team has their own personal experience of parenting and is passionate about providing hope and understanding to fellow parents. We are here to hear their concerns, and to offer a non-judgemental ear when it’s needed most.

We provide parents:

  • A confidential listening service that can be used anonymously.

  • Support from a fully trained worker, with their own lived experience of parenting.

  • A safe space to talk openly without judgment, about anything that’s on their mind.

PARENTS Online is an innovative digital project which provides free online peer support to parents and carers using an online chat function. The idea for the project was born in 2020, in response to a worrying lack of available support for parents in the Bradford District. This problem was only exacerbated throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, with the Bradford Covid Scientific Advisory Board and Born in Bradford highlighting the huge and damaging impact on parents and families.

In response, The Cellar Trust and Brathay Trust pledged to combine their respective reputations and resources in both the mental health and family work sectors to deliver this ground-breaking new project. In July 2021 PARENTS Online was launched in its pilot phase, to provide free emotional support to parents when they need it most.
