Children's Services Contact Centre

Children's Initial Contact Point

The Children’s Initial Contact Point is the first point of contact for all new enquiries, by telephone or in writing, from members of the public and other professionals.

The team's role is to ensure, from the information obtained, that all calls and enquiries are directed appropriately. They also process all new mail and faxes on behalf of Children's Services and redirect them to the appropriate office for action.

What does it do?

The contact point is the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to children and young people. The team ensure phone calls and written enquiries are directed to the most appropriate team. Sometimes the team can visit at home, and look at individual circumstances in more detail and agree a plan. This number is also for members of the public (if the caller believes the child or young person may be at risk of harm either from their own or someone else’s actions). If you are older and have previously received services and wish to access any information you feel we might hold about yourself please write to us. If you have previously been looked after by us we can sometimes provide services beyond your 18th birthday.

Who is it for?

Contact can be made by any parent, child or young person. We offer services to families who are living in the Bradford area. We also are pleased to take any calls about a child or young person who is not related to the caller if they either have the parent or guardian's permission to call, or, when the caller believes the child or young person may be at risk of harm either from their own or some one else's actions. This includes members of the public and professionals. We will try to help and if we cannot will try to put you in touch with someone who can.

How do I access it?

Monday to Thursday: 8.30am - 5.00pm Friday: 8.30am - 4.30pm (except public holidays)

Outside of these times, please contact the Emergency Duty Team.
