Kala Sangam’s community projects promote greater understanding and appreciation of the cultural traditions from south Asia through innovative methods which aim to increase awareness of racial, cultural and social issues.
The company delivers projects across the full range of south Asian art forms including global arts in the wider community and in the fields of education, health and regeneration to engage, motivate and improve quality of life for some of the most disadvantaged communities.
We provide life-long learning and training through innovative and inclusive artistic activities which address issues such as education and employment as well as social issues such as crime and drug abuse. Such activities particularly target people living in the most deprived districts, people who are at risk of marginalisation, have health issues, or are from ethnic minority communities.
Kala Sangam works closely in partnership with community organisations, the voluntary sector, learning partnerships, LEAs, primary & secondary schools, HE/FE institutions, NHS trusts and healthy living centres to address some of the local and national learning and health priorities.
We also collaborate with wide variety of community groups, encouraging the use of artistic activities to support their development and improve their quality of life.

Kala Sangam presents two seasons of performances each year featuring high-quality local, national and international artists from a variety of cultural heritages. We are the home of music and dance in Bradford, bringing the best choreographers and composers to the city. Our Ganges Theatre (seats 128) also presents performances by local amateur groups and dance schools throughout the year. Aligning with our Programming Strands, we aim to ensure there is something for all of Bradford’s diverse communities in each season. Each season also features a series of visual arts installations in the building’s gallery space.
We work with artists to offer them a programme of support tailored to their needs. Our offer includes access to free rehearsal space, organisational development support, help writing fundraising applications, performance opportunities, technical support, meeting room space and more. Support is gender neutral with a focus on Bradford based and BAME artists.
