Volunteering Opportunity for People With Learning Disabilities

19 May 2022,

BMT have a volunteering opportunity coming up specifically for people with learning disabilities, people from the deaf community and people with mental health problems.  BTM works with participants aged 18+.

The project is called Hear Our Voice and weekly sessions will be starting in July. There are three different groups which take place:

  • Monday 10.30am – 2pm Learning Disabilities and Autism group
  • Tuesday 1pm – 4pm Deaf group
  • Wednesday 10.30am – 2pm Mental Health group

Hear Our Voice is about building people’s confidence and skills so they are able to achieve their personal goals and eventually move on to other volunteering opportunities or paid work. We work with participants to support them to share their opinions and ideas through digital media such as videos and podcasts. Participants will learn how to use a wide variety of equipment and in doing so build their skills and confidence in expressing themselves.

We have two taster sessions in June at the BTM office which I would be really grateful if you could share with people who are looking for an opportunity like this.

Please see the flyer attached for details (there will be a BSL version to follow).

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.
