Short Breaks (Social Inclusion Project) Stakeholder Advert - Parents

22 Nov 2022,

An opportunity has arisen for 2 Parents to help review the current Social Inclusion Project (SIP) commissioned services and help shape the new provision planned to start in summer 2023.

Short Breaks in this instance are fun recreational group activities for children and young people aged 8-18 with a diagnosed disability and not receiving social care support/universal services.

Your role will be part of the commissioning working group to ensure that the service reviewed and the refreshed service specification is co-produced. This will include planning how children, young people and parents views and ideas will influence the refreshed specification.

Please note that this piece of commissioning is about the activities and provision available, it is not to consider eligibility for the provision.

Who we are looking for?

  • You will be a parent of a child aged between 8-17 years with a diagnosed disability, and not accessing social care/universal services.
  • Your child can be currently accessing a Short Breaks club or group, however you cannot be on a Committee or funded by a Provider, due to possible conflicts of interest.

Our expectations:

  • You must be able to give approx. 2-3 hours per month, Monday – Friday, between November 2022 and June 2023.
  • You must be able to attend meetings remotely from home. It is anticipated that the majority of meetings will be held on line, so you must have access to MS Teams.

What you can expect:

  • The opportunity to influence and shape Short Breaks provision in the future.
  • Any out of pocket expenses, i.e. travel costs, parking.

If you meet our criteria and would like to apply, please complete the Expression of Interest Form and send it to ChildrensCommissioning@bradford.gov.uk  no later than 6th December 2022.
