DFN Project Search supported internship programme

6 May 2022,

DFN Project SEARCH is a yearlong supported internship programme which is suitable for young people with mild learning difficulties and/or autism. We have been operating in Bradford for around 10 years. We have Interns in BRI, St Lukes, Bradford College, Bradford Council and Next warehouse. They are aged between 18 and 24.

The interns carry out 3 work placements over a college year. The hope is that they will gain enough experience to get paid work at the end. We are currently working at a 70% success rate for paid jobs which is amazing considering the national figure is less than 6%. They are fully supported to learn the tasks by a qualified job coach to start with and we stay in contact throughout.

The type of job rotations that we can offer will be dependent on the programme. See examples below:

  • Catering
  • Administration (HR, Finance, medical records, exams team etc)
  • Domestic services ICT support
  • Security team
  • Receipt and distribution
  • Library services
  • Pharmacy stores
  • Ward hospitality
  • Portering services

If you have any young people who may be interested, or conversely if you are interested in taking one of our young people for a few months, please get in touch on the details below. I have attached our leaflet and this short YouTube video that will give you a bit more information.
