Airedale NHS Childrens Therapies - Speech and Language Therapy

What does it do?

 An NHS service covering  the  areas of Bingley, Ilkley, Keighley, Steeton and Silsden, as well as the Craven area of North Yorkshire 

Provides support to children with developmental or acquired speech, language and communication needs. The team also assesses and gives advice on eating and drinking difficulties (chewing and swallowing), and works with individuals who have a stammer. The team will also provide assessment and advice for children who require alternative or augmentative communication aid provision.

Who is it for?

Children and young people aged up to 18 (19 in a special school) with suspected or identified speech and language and communication problems and/or feeding/swallowing difficulties living in the Airedale area.

The service can be accessed by making a referral using the referral form on the Airedale NHS  Trust website or on Bradford Schools Online website.

Children  and young people can be referred by their  nursery or school,  other health professionals, family members with parental responsibility  or self-referrals ( age 16 plus) . An advisory triage service  is available for children under six.
