What does it do?
The programme targets families with children aged 0-4 and will commence early in the New Year. The focus will be on common childhood illnesses e.g. cold, fever and feeding etc. with a specific focus on parent education. The plan is to deliver group learning sessions for parents which provide an opportunity to practice skills in a peer-led environment. The initial phase of the project will involve asking local parents with children 0-4 years about managing children’s health at home. The model will employ a co-produced methodology in which parents and families are involved in the design delivery and evaluation of the service. The core content of each session is based on experiences and stories and it is possible to adapt the sessions to fit with parents or local need e.g. adding an oral health session if parents feel that would be useful.
