The Local Authority is currently piloting a process called My Support Plan (MSP) which aims to ensure that children and young people’s needs are met in a timely way and outcomes improved for this group of students.
A MSP leads to the production of a clear plan of what needs to happen to improve outcomes for a young person and allows schools to access additional funding in order to enhance provision.
Schools currently applying for an Education Health and Care Assessment are being offered the opportunity to be part of the pilot, as it is a swifter (but non statutory) process.
Inclusion on the MSP pilot is optional. Alternatively schools can still request that an EHCA be undertaken.
Full details of the MSP and further training will be available in September 2017 once the initial pilot has been evaluated and any modifications made.
